Ultra distance cyclist

"The only time you should ever look back is to see how far you've come - Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you're doing the impossible !"

Tell us something about yourself?

I'm a belgian amateur cyclist suffering of ankylosing spondylitis. In the context of spondylitis, sport or at least physical activity is considered essential. The longer we stay in motion, the slower the progression of the disease. My goal is to promote sport, physical activity and cycling in particular as a supplement to therapy. Each year a cycle more than 8.000 km and achieve long distance challenges. I cycle to raise funds for the CLAIR.be association helping people with inflammatory rheumatic diseases.

Why do you wear a Mojid band?

I train over long distances and often in the mountains. I am reassured to know that in the event of an accident, my family will be able to be notified using the contact details on my bracelet. Being sick and having a specific treatment, the data can help the emergency services.

What is your life mantra?

The only time you should ever look back is to see how far you've come - Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you're doing the impossible!

Tell us something about yourself?

Hello, my name is Bart Vandermoere, 43 years old, married and father of 3 daughters. Since 2016 I have had 2 hip prostheses. Because there are permanent problems with walking and moving in general, I participate in paratriathlon. I can say that I am pretty passionate about my sport. Just being able to enjoy what I can do is already more than a satisfaction for me.

Why do you wear a Mojid band?

Wearing a mojid band is very important to me because my medical background makes me feel more secure when I am alone during workouts or in daily activities.

""Fall down 7 times. Get up 8!” - In sports you have highs and lows. True champions are the ones who get over disappointments and come back stronger."

Tell us something about yourself?

I started swimming competitions when I was 11 years old and switched to triathlon at the age of 25. Without real training on the bike and the run, I finished 3rd in my first Olympic Distance race which was the Belgian championship and also finished 2nd at the national sprint championships that same year. I was wondering what I could do with structured training and started working with a coach. Only one year after my debut in triathlon, I was at the start line of my first ETU European championships and started racing internationally. When triathlon seemed to be ‘just for fun’ in 2008, it was discovering myself in 2009 to finally qualify for the London Olympics in 2012 and in the end a second Olympic qualification for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. After Rio my focus went from Olympic Distance to longer distances with a win in Weymouth IM70.3 2017 and Challenge Prague 2018 as my biggest performances.

Why do you wear a Mojid band?

When I was 18 years old, I had a bike accident on my way home from my third day at university. A car driver opened the door of her parked car and hit me. I crashed and could nearly push my head away from another car driving on the road. I got lucky only my hand and leg were hit and never lost consciousness, but from that moment I realize how important it is to cary your ID with you. Having a Mojid band around my wrist just gives me that extra confidence in case something happens on my training rides and runs.

“fanatic – aren’t we all? – granfondo cyclist”
"“Come back stronger!""

Tell us something about yourself?

My name is Davy Christiaens, married, proud father of lovely 14 year old daughter and a cycling fanatic. Road racing, beach racing, mountainbike, track racing,… you name it, I do it. Or at least it’s still on my bucket list. I like to test my boundaries and challenge myself, which is why I focus on riding granfondo-races. I might not be one of the best when it comes to climbing, but for me it’s all about pushing myself and being the best I can be, rather then aiming for a podium (even though I once reached 4th place in Tour of Cambridgeshire, losing 3rd place by a centimeter).

Why do you wear a Mojid band?

Not so long ago I was hit by a car on training. Luckily I was still conscious and lucid enough to remember my wife’s phone number. That was the moment I realized I needed something that had al my “in case of emergency” information on me. Until I discovered Mojid Bands…

What is your life mantra?

“Come back stronger!"

"I hated every minute of training, but I always told myself not to quit. "Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion". Quote Muhammad Ali"

Tell us something about yourself?

I started swimming in school. When the teacher told my parents I was talented, I joined a swimming club. My biggest dream was to participate in the Olympics. During my swimming career I broke 78 Belgium records. My dream became reality. Finally in ’92 I participated in the Barcelona Olympic Games. I was an Olympic finalist (200 meter back stroke). Some highlights of my swimming career: In ’93 I received a bronze Medaille 200 M. back stroke at the World Championships in Palma the Mallorca In ’94 I won the USA Open in Buffalo NY 3 times. In ’95 I competed in the European Championships in Wien and received a Bronze medal for 100 M. back stroke. After my professional swimming years, I started coaching abroad to share my experience as an Olympian. A few years ago I came back to Belgium. My passion for swimming is still as big as when I started, therefore I started my own Company SWIMMOON, Swimming from a to z, where I share my Passion and my Experience with triathletes, swimmers and extreme sporters at all levels so that they can chase their dreams.

Why do you wear a Mojid band?

Safety is the most important thing in life. After my swimming career the doctor found out that I have an auto immune disease. The medication I take is important data (if something happens to me). That's why Mojid Bands is a great initiative...knowing that you are safe at all times.

What is your life mantra?
